Artificial dolphin fin makes champion swimmers out of laymen
Harshpaul | Mar 9 2009

Even the best of human swimmers obviously can’t match the prowess with which fish swim in the water, but people like Ted Ciamillo are hard at work to bridge that gap. The Greek engineer has developed a contraption called Lunocet, a dolphin-inspired 2.5 pound monofin. The lightweight fin is made of carbon fiber and fiberglass, and spans almost a meter. It can propel swimmers to almost 33 miles per hour, converting nearly 80 percent of the applied energy into thrust. The Lunocet is efficient, lightweight and fast; almost twice the speed of Michael Phelps.

But what if Michael Phelps wore it?...

It is mathematically impossible for Michael Phelps to wear the fin. ;)
