“Throughout human history, we have been dependent on machines to survive. Fate, it seems, is not without a sense of irony.” Nothing sums up the influence of machines in our lives more than this statement by the legendary (at least for the techies!) Morpheus. And the best way to justify it is by integrating a human and a machine. At first thought, it does sound preposterous, but Bionics, mind-interaction software and brain implants show us why it isn’t just a figment of our imagination. Paul Micarelli, though, has bigger ideas. And his iThink concept is perhaps a sneak peek at how digital technology would eventually be a part of our consciousness and how that would lead to a state of super-consciousness being attained. A scenario where you would…in Paul’s words…“interact with unlimited information, virtual imagery & sound, and even immersive environments, all within your mind.”
If Paul’s concept were to materialize someday, we (with an embedded chip in our brain) will be able to control our dreams, imagination, and perceptions etc., and give them a tangible shape. A working design of the iThink would feature a Symbiosis™ Neural Interface that merges your brain with a computer; Intel Fusion™ Quantum Processing to ascribe machine-like computing speeds to a human; and Perceptual Immersion that gathers sensory input on data such as images, sound etc for processing. Your brain would also function like a transmitter/receiver by receiving or transmitting signals (with regulations, of course!) over the iThink network. This would be handled by Intra-neural Communication.
In addition to this, your brain would also function like a GPS, receiving location-based information in your in-built Google Earth Application. And if all this ain’t befuddling enough, the iThink concept will feature Holographic Data Storage, with a capacity of more than 666 Yottabytes (1000^8). Just once, we would like to contradict Morpheus and say getting plugged is cool, after all!
