We’re not new to bifocal or distance adjustable lenses. We have read and heard about them pretty often, but haven’t actually seen them reach practicality or in a useful application. Things however are on the verge of change with Stephen Kurtin introducing what are tapped as the first manually adjustable lenses. Dubbed the TruFocals, the peculiarity of these eyeglass lenses is that they can be easily adjusted by flipping the slider, for long and short distance vision.
The TruFocals derive this ingenious preposition of shape-shifting from a layer of liquid filled within the lens. The $895 TruFocals are built in two lens modules – one, rigid plastic lens, while the other is a clear liquid lens. With a little slider on the top the wearer can choose the lens required. For shape adjusting the liquid lens are compressed by the frame, bringing about a change in shape and focus which the wearer can accordingly select. In case you are interested you can pre-order here.
