Adidas opens world's most advanced showroom in Paris

Adidas has opened the world’s most modern showroom in Paris.

The showroom named Avenue des Champs Elysees boasts of a virtual mirror, which allows customers to try shoes without actually wearing them.

This virtual mirror has been developed by researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications and Heinrich-Hertz-Institute HHI, in Berlin.

Unlike a conventional mirror this one does not display a true reflection. Instead this mirror makes use of cameras that capture the feet and legs of the customer. The images are then merged with shoes thanks to a 3-D image processing technology. The system is so fast that it allows the customers to move in real time.

In a second development HHI also flaunted a system with which shoes and apparel were presented in the form of pictures and brief movies. This technology is even better than Touchscreen system as in this the user only has to point a finger at the product he wishes to buy. A camera captures the spatial coordinates of the finger and then determines the product at which the finger is being pointed.

Such technology will definitely ease the pressure of shopping.
