Adidas' augmented reality sneaker could be your next game controller
Bharat | Dec 24 2009

Tapping into the world of augmented reality, Adidas has created a virtual world which we’ll be able to access with a new line of sneakers being introduced by the company. Adding an extraordinary virtual world over real world sneakers to be made available starting February for price between $65 and $95, Adidas expects the buyers, to hold the sneaker against the webcam with Adidas site on the background, where a virtual world would be created that the user can control with his sneaker.

Following successful introduction of this project, Adidas then in collaboration with game developer xForm plans to introduce three augmented reality games (i.e skateboard game, Star Wars-like game and a music-based game) wherein the developed sneaker would act like the game controller. This Adidas’ ploy to tap virtual and real world appreciates could earn enough laurels as the company actually expects.
